Chemicals in the brain cause the "feeling" of love...but the brain isn't a very romantic organ in poetry, so the heart gets credit.

The brain sends the signals when we like something thereby making our heart pump faster. Just as a good piece of chocolate makes the nueral synopses in my brain snap making my heart happy.

It is true for pain also! When in danger, especially when a loved one is in danger, our brain releases adrenaline making our heart pump and ache. Heartache via the brain!

But to answer your question, love is a feeling from the heart that initially started in the brain. And anyways, it would be horrible to get a box of chocolate on Valentine's Day shaped like a brain!!! Hee Hee!!!

All the heart does is pump blood. It can't "feel" anything. The brain is where everything happens.

we discussed this from college, if my memory serves me right, every emotion is from the hypothalamus, it is the seat of emotion. it releases hormones when it receives stimulus from either the eyes, ears, sense of touch. the heart on the contrary merely pumps blood for the blood to circulate through out the body.
