Just got a 2002 Acura RSX. A couple days after the purchase it because very difficult to get the car in gear when cold and also hard to shift gears sometimes. Do I need a new clutch? Also I had it inspected by an acura specialist prior to buying it and they didn't mention the clutch. Should I bring it back to them?

Absolutely! It obviously has a problem and your vehicle should have some kind of drivetrain warranty on it. Don't wait. Take it in ASAP

It does sound like a clutch/linkage issue to me.

Good luck

This can happen when the clutch doesn't disengage fully. It could need adjustment or if it has a hydraulic clutch, could have a leaky slave cylinder. These aren't serious issues but should be fixed by the seller. It could also need a shift linkage (cable) adjustment. Finally, how cold? My present car uses 90W130 in the transaxle, and that does start out a bit stiff on the coldest of these winter mornings. But take it in and tell them about it. The clutch itself isn't likely the problem. Which, if you've ever changed one, is a very, very good thing. But clutches are reasonably tough and if it ever starts slipping, probably only needs an adjustment. They're so hard to get at now that they're made to last the life of the car if not abused.

Could possibly need a clutch/pressure plate/throw-out bearing replaced OR the clutch rod or cable might just need adjusted. Take it to them if you know nothing about it. Adjustment is a simple and quick way to judge the need for further work or not. If it needs parts, replace the throw-out bearing, too. If you don't, it will start squealing a short time later and need torn down again. Better to replace everything at once than tear it down twice.

i could be a clutch but most likely is is in the clutch master or slave cylinder that is what disengages your clutch and not being able to get in in gear sounds like it isnt disengaging

I would take it back and have them look at it and tell them it really hasn't been right since you got it, possibly just a small adjustment in the shifter cables will fix it.

yes, and have them test drive it for you it sounds like your clutch is going bad, don't wait until you can't get it into gear. then you will have to pay to have it towed.

Possible clutrch problem, but check and make sure trans has correct lube in it. If trans oil is too heavy, it could cause same problem.
