Hygiene and culture are the two biggest factors. I am. My three children are - as horribly painful as it was for me to know what was happening to them. Nevertheless, given that cleanliness is important and that locker room talk is often very harmful to a teenager, it was better to ensure their good health and perceived "normalcy" than to avoid it due to my own discomfort with the idea.

It is done at 8 days. It is not an act of cruelty, just a removal of a bit of skin.
I don't know of any country that considers it to be an act of cruelty. The so-called circumcision of girls is cruel (removal of the clitoris). In many of the ocuntries where it is done, it is considered to be illegal but difficult to enforce the law.
Circumcision is considered by many to be a protection against cancer, both for the male, and for the future partner. If that is true, then it would be cruel not to circumcise. It may not be true, but in any case, it really does no harm. (Also makes it easier to keep clean).

Neither. Maybe in other countries is may be considered cruelty, (although I've never heard of that) but we are in the USA and there is a choice. It is much more sanitary and lessens the chances of infection to be circumcised. I had my son circumcised and don't regret it for one second....neither does he.

on a girl its cruel. For a guy i don't know if it hurts but its for hygenic reasons. Plus it looks better and its easier to clean cuz u don't have to pull the skin back and miss some spots!

I circumsised my son for health reasons. I also didnt want it to affect his personal life as he got older. Most women dont respond well to an uncircumsised penis. People think that it has the potential to carry bacteria if the skin isnt properly cleaned.

I don't think it's necessary for cleanliness at all. If you teach a child how to clean themselves when they are young, they won't have any problems. I personally don't understand why we view it as normal to cut off a part of our babies genitalia when it doesn't really serve a purpose--my family doctor won't perform them anymore. I don't particularly want my son to be circumcised if/when I have one; however, I don't have a penis and so I feel I can't be fully informed about it. I'll leave the decision to my husband.
