I have a 6 month old son, and in about 3 months or so, we will be moving to california, and we'll be driving. Can anyone suggest things that will make the trip easier? Also, in the middle of april i will be flying to alabama with my son in lap, 12 hour trip to get there. Same thing, anyone have advice?

For the airplane ride, something to suck on during take off!! Otherwise, for the road trip, try to plan the longest amount of driving for when he will be asleep.

Make sure diaper bag has lots of diapers, wipes, plenty of formula for the trip, a bottle warmer for the car, a couple of changes of clothing favorite blanket and toys. don't pack any thing around the baby. put every thing in the trunk or floor boards. if it wont fit get a trailer or rent a u haul.

get the baby out of the car seat every time you stop so he can move around a little he will be happier expect him to sleep a lot in the car, so he will be up at night. Get your own rest so you will be fresh if the baby does get fussy.

If it is possible have some one ride in the back seat with the baby in case he spits up or needs some attention.

as far as the flight goes just make sure the diaper bag is loaded with the essentials.

What you need to bring for CA will be determined by what part of CA you are going too....The weather in San Diego is very different then the weather in say...San Francisco....

As for the flight.....things to keep him & you occupied on your lap...A little Benadryl might not hurt either as the change in air preasure may be uncomfortable to him and the Benadryl will make him more relaxed ~ maybe even sleep most of the way....

Pray you sit next to someone who has children and can relate to your situation vs. the business person who will just be annoyed the entire way....
