Farting brings us memories of embarrassing times. For some it is rude, for some just a part of life.

Probably because its a universally embarassing experience. To understand why we laugh it is often helpful to see what is frightening or threatening about the funny thing. Laughter is sometimes the same thing as whistling in the dark.

I don't. There is nothing funny about a disgusting, smelly fart. There are classes that people fit in; high class, low class and no class....that is NO CLASS

it is a natural instinct to ventilate away the toxic gas inhaled or imagined as inhaled. it is a noblese gesture to 'hide' the odour.
it is a manner of pride to demean or imply rejection of such act
