people hate change, som OLD punk heads probably think its dead cause, the same ol people , aren't doin it, and it may sound a lil more up to date

Mostly because it has become more of an image than an attitude. There are Indie bands that still have the attitude, but pretty much everything you see on TV is fake. And.. because that is what most people have to go on, they assume that it is dead. Punk Rock isn't dead.. it lives in MY heart at least!
