I have myopia, but it is very mild. I am only 1 point off. So does vision therapy really help or is it a lie. Please answer serious.

UPDATE:**fixed the links**

You can improve your vision using vision therapy. The way I did it is not what a lot of vision therapists may be doing, since many of them think "strengthening the eye muscles" is the answer. This has very limited results. Here is what I know.

There was a man who cured blindness and other serious diseases of the eye over 85 years ago. He was a leading ophthalmologist at Columbia University, but expelled and ostracized after he did a nearly 180 degree turn and went against 15 years of his optometry beliefs once he found a flaw with Helmholtz's theory of accommodation, which changes our whole understanding of what causes refractive errors and diseases of the eye. Why doesn't the public know about this? There is strong supporting evidence about scientific tyranny taking place, and famous scientists like Richard Feynman (who assisted in the development of the atomic bomb, expanded the understanding of quantum electrodynamics, translated Mayan hieroglyphics, and cut to the heart of the Challenger disaster) have publicly criticized how poorly disorganized our researchers are. Feynman once said, "The experts who are leading you may be wrong. I have probably ruined the system, and the students that are coming into Caltech no longer will be any good. I think we live in an unscientific age in which almost all the buffeting of communications and television–words, books, and so on–are unscientific. As a result, there is a considerable amount of intellectual tyranny in the name of science.”

I'm going to show you something I showed another person earlier regarding misconceptions about eye exercises. You need to know where to start.

******************************...

"Eye exercises" are limited because they are based on misconceptions. I've done a lot of research on this and have had vision improvement. Read my post dated February 21, 2007 @ 10:59 am at http://improvingmyeyesight.com/blog/?p=30#comment-114 ... the post at that link will most likely be the most important post you will ever read regarding vision improvement. This I promise you.

I use techniques which are designed to promote natural habits of the eye to be used 24/7, similar to the habits used by people with perfect eyesight. I used to have 20/100 and then after a month it was 20/40 all of a sudden. This does not even include the mental 'clear flashes'. With the mental clear flashes, I can see better to such a tremendous degree that it would make no sense to most people -- my visual acuity goes to 20/13 or better! The first time this happened, I could see the strands of people's hair up to 1/4 mile away. I could also see the details inside a jet stream in the sky about 30-50 miles away. The 20/13 has been confirmed on a Snellen eye chart, under similar conditions. Most people probably have no idea what it's like being able to see that well. I posted my success story here: http://www.iblindness.org/forum/index.php/topic,401.0.html

The Bates Method teaches you about the following:

1) healthy eye habits which are exactly the same used by people with perfect sight
2) relaxing the muscular and nerve system to benefit the vision system, in such a way that can cure even blindness (I know what people are thinking, so I just ask that you read the first link I posted above before jumping to conclusions - there is a history that most people are not aware about regarding the optometry school)
3) creating mental imprints which drastically improve eyesight, similar to the idea of what many people would call "muscle memory"

It has changed my entire understanding of how the mind plays a role in vision. William H. Bates is the only person to my knowledge who has ever done intensive studies on modifying vision through the eye of the mind itself, by leaving mental imprints of an image appearing better than usual through visualization. The result of the visualizations? 'Clear flashes' which come from those mental imprints. It makes sense, there have been scientific experiments using 'trick lens' which flipped the world upside-down when the subject wore it and after only 3 days of wearing the lens, the brain automatically flipped it right way up. After the lens were discarded, the world appeared to be on its head, but the brain shortly afterwards flipped it to where it originally had been before starting the experiment. My point: the brain is capable of being programmed to see better because vision is largely a mental process. Think of optical illusions and all that.

So I recommend that after you read both of my posts, you consider giving the Bates Method a try.

BTW, the Bates method applies to anyone, regardless of degree of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, etc. Hope this helps.

I have done the vision therapy at www.visionfreedom.com several years ago and got good results -- well, not what I'd hoped for, but good nonetheless. I no longer require prisms in my glasses and can go to an optometrist instead of an ophthalmologist all the time. I'm still myopic myself, but am very glad not to need the prisms. They messed everything up! I'd recommend the vision therapy. It takes work and you have to be willing to do that work, or it's just a waste of time and money.

Improving your vision by reversing the deterioration process is perhaps a remote possibility but it may well include a lot of wishful thinking. Probably a bit like trying to reverse the ageing process. You can certainly slow it down a bit but reversing it is still out of reach. If eye problems are due to some temporary defect such as eye strain then, of course, the defect can be overcome You can certainly slow down the sight deterioration process with a good diet that includes antioxidants. These can be found in fruits and vegies that are coloured a bright orange, yellow, red and purple and they include carrots, pumkin, oranges, melons, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, bilberries, purple grapes, beetroot, red cabbage, etc. Health supplements from a health store may also help in this regard and one such product is called "Vision Defence Formula" and is based on bilberry and also contains lutein, beta carotene, Vitamin B2, zinc, Vitamin C and some other components. A Yahoo search for bilberry + eyesight may be of interest to you.

Vision therapy is very useful for those with near sightedness or far sightedness. As to the success rate of people who have myopia I have no clue. It can't hurt, though; It'd be better than you sitting around here staring at a PC screen, watching TV, etc.

Well
I'm following a method that is helping me to improve my vision with simple eye exercises. Have a look at the full system on this site http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=413
It works very well.

I have heard of something called the Bates Method. I have thought of using it, but haven't looked too hard. It is exercises for your eyes to improve vision.

Get the book: Beyond 3d. I could not see very well a couple of years ago; got the book and like magic I can see. I also do eye exercises (will put you to sleep; thats why I recommend you do this before going to bed or in bed). Close eyes, look upward very hard, look left, look down, look to the right. Do the opposite side. Eyes have a lot of muscles that is why we lose sight: lack of eye exercises. I know you will be seeing clearly in a short period of time.
