In order to do a transmission flush you have to have a machine designed to do that which ranges in the multi-thousand dollar range. But to simply drain the fluid, its pretty simple, find the oil drain plug on the transmission, remove plug, allow oil to drain, remove the drain pan cover, remove the filter and replace. Install new drain pan cover gasket, replace cover, replace drain plug. Refill transmission. Also when you drain the transmission drive the car around for a while to warm up the fluid before you change it as it also helps to remove any sludge or deposits. Your owner's manual can give you a general idea on maintenance, but I recommend getting a Chilton manual for your car. They run about $20 at auto parts stores.

I always change my transmission fluid every 55,000 miles, and my engine oil every 3,000 miles. I would rather spend the money on oil changes than a few grand on a new transmission or engine. I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 192,000+ miles on it and haven't had a single transmission or engine problem other than belts hoses, and a fluid leak every now and then which is fixed the next time the vehicle is serviced.

Under your car find the transmission at the lowest point on the transmission there should be a plug unscrew it and let it drain out. There is no filter for your transmission fluid. Sorry i don't no where u would be able to get a how to book for free but there is a computer program called ALLDATA which tells you how to fix anything that could ever go wrong with your car.

refer to owners manual for recomended frequency of service. Flushing an auto trans requires a special machine costing many thousandss of dollars and does not usually include a filter change as the lines to the radiator are used. The filter can be changed by removing the trans. oil pan but if you do not have a shop manual and quite a bit of experience i would not recomend it. Most places charge less than 100 bucks, much cheaper than a new trans if the job is done incorrectly.

It's called a fluid and filter change. Remove the trans pan from bottom. Remove old filter, usually held by one bolt and the filter neck's o-ring. Put new 0-ring on notch on filter neck, dab a little fluid on it and push up into hole and replace bolt snug but not real tight. Clean and replace pan gasket and bolt it back on. Start engine and refill with 4 qt.s trans fluid (Dexron or type II fluid). Shift trans back and forth park to low range several times, put in park and check fluid. Should be OK to drive. If bottom of pan is cruddy and contains metal filings, something bad is wrong and needs further service or replaced.

you can buy a maintenenc manual at a parts store like autozone but you can buy a flushing fluid and run it in your tranny and then you would drain all the fluid by a drain plug not all cars have a plug in this case you remove pan the filter is just inside the pan you would change it when you have the pan off and then put pan back on and fill tranny with engine running and in park

no longer a great deal. pass slowly decrease than the vehicle and open the transmission drain plug. (do no longer do it whilst the vehicle is warm) Drain out a pair of quarts of fluid. That way, you may upload the Lucas product after which suited of the fluid till you hit the mark on the dipstick. do no longer overfill.
