Yes. Depoprovera is an oil based medication. Because it lasts much longer than other birth control medications, it takes longer for you to have a period or menses.

Depo affects the lining of the uterus, not the release of the egg from the ovaries. The medication takes much longer to work out of your system but eventually you should have a period. Remember the normal female cycle is the buildup of the lining of the uterus and it's usual shedding which is the period.

You do not indicate how long it has been since your last injection of Depo.

I would suggest consulting with either a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician to determine if something else might be going on.

To answer your question, yes many women go on to have children after taking Depo, my niece and nephew are living proof.

Depo shouldn't last forever. How long have you been off of it?
