Turn on WEP/WAP security on the router. This will prevent others from jumping onto your wireless connection without your authorization. You'll need to configure the router with a "key" and then add that same key to your computer.
If you don't have a wireless connection, do you have any other devices connected?

Go to the window that shows all your connections.. highlight each one at a time,on your right hand side look for " change firewall settings" then click on enable firewall " ( do that on each of your connections.....
