Fearful,
Fear isn't something you "get over" really. It's a survival reaction. You CAN choose, however, whether you rule your fear, or it rules you. If you rule it, then you are, in effect, "over it" in that sense. Likewise, there are moments when you do have to accept that you are also unable to do anything about a situation, and realize that you are of no use to those around you or yourself if you let fear of a future "maybe" event make you useless if it becomes a "now" thing. Face your fear, and decide ahead of time what to do IF the worst happens. Once you look what you fear in the face, it loses much of its power over you, and becomes a manageable thing, because you know what you will do. Half of being afraid is you asking yourself "What am I going to do if...?" Once you've answered that question, you rule your fear, not the other way 'round. And then, you get on with the now!

Dear Fearful. The falling ice seems like nasty stuff, but the owners of the building have a duty to protect the people who come to their facility. If there was a decent chance that the ice could hurt someone, they would close the sidewalk.

Carry a VERY thick umbrella. It might help, it might not but at least you tried. OR wear a helmet.
