I'm 16 and I just started having sex and I don't want to take any risks. I want to get on the pill, but I'm not sure how to get it. My parents are definately clueless and I'm hoping for it to stay that way. I know there are places like Planned Parenthood, but don't you have to get a PAP Smear or something like that in order to get it? Is there any other way I can get Birth Control?

not all planned parenthood clinics will require an exam. the one near where i live only gives you a pregnancy test if you are sexually active because a pregnant person can't take birth control. otherwise they just weigh you & take your blood pressure. you can call them at 1-800-PLAN (7526) to ask them & make an appointment or go to www.plannedparenthood.org. there are other women's health clinics but i don't know where you live so i couldn't tell you what they are. i would recommend going to planned parenthood, they make you feel very comfortable and will answer any questions you have. good job for wanting to be safe, and remember it's a good idea to still wear condoms even if you go on bc to prevent STDs and make it even less likely for you to get pregnant.

Anywhere you go to be put on birth control and you aren't a virgin, you will have to have a pelvic exam and maybe a pap smear. There is no way to get hormonal birth control except through a doctor's prescription. A pelvic exam shouldn't scare you away from getting a reliable birth control method!

yes, you have to get a PAP smear and with birth control you have to get your parent's permission. But there is a risk of having sex at a young age, you are more than likely at risk for getting HPV and cervical cancer in the long run.

You can go to planned parenthood but they will do a pelvic exam to be check for infections or other problems. Now that you are sexaully active you NEED to have a pelvic exam and a pap smear every year. If you use planned parenthood you will need to see them yearly for you checkups and to renew your birth control prescription.

If you are sexually active then you should definitely start getting pap smears. The procedure is not that uncomfortable. Just be sure to tell them it is your first time getting one and they should explain everything. And, you can always bring a friend with you.

The pill will give you good protection against an unwanted pregnancy. It will not protect you from STD's. I worked womens health and can't tell you the countless girls I took care of that contracted one. It is very easy to get one. Some are deadly. Some can't be cured. Some can leave you unable to have a baby. Please think about all this. There is only one way to prevent everything. Abstinence. Condoms are not 100% protection. Any skin to skin contact leaves you vulnerable. Herpes is spread by skin to skin contact. There is no cure for this. Are you comfortable telling your next boyfriend you have Herpes? Please be careful.

if you think you are old enough to have sex than you should be old enough or shall i say mature enough to ask your parents to put you on the pill most parents will agree especially these days i know i wouldn't want to be a grandparent yet believe me if you let them know you a responsible enough to take the pill they'll feel they done something right
