Don't scratch it. Make sure that you put aloe vera or lotion on it and keep it hydrated. It itches because it's dry.

Yes, it is very bad. Just like how you aren't supposed to scratch at scabs, blisters, acne, and other skin imperfections, you shouldn't be scratching at your sunburned skin. The whole point of leaving it alone is so that it can properly go through the healing process without you disturbing it. You should dab some sun damage lotion/sunburn lotion/after-sun lotion that you can find at virtually any regular drugstore on it daily and wait a while for it to fully heal. Or, if you prefer home-made alternatives, you can try applying the affected area with plain yogurt, which has a lot of nutrients and healthy bacteria that will speed up the healing process as well as cooling the burn or use aloe vera juice to heal the sunburn. Sorry for the rambling, but I hope it helps. =^^= Oh, and one more thing ... If the options listed above don't work, or if the problem worsens, contact a dermatologist and see what you can do.

Yes, it's bad to scratch. You don't want to get a infection from any bacteria. Use a gel that has aloe and a combined pain killer for burns. Repeat as needed. Tanning beds are so dangerous for your skin. A beautiful fast tan today and skin cancer tommorrow and aged skin to go with it. I'd try some of the self-tanning creams and keep your skin healthy.

Put some Sun Recover (its an actual brand of repair lotion) on the burned areas, and don't scratch! If it REALLY itches and you MUST scratch, wrap you hand in a washcloth and then rub. It'll do less damage.
You can buy Sun Recover at most tanning salons. If they don't have it, buy some other repair lotion. It's important to moisturize!

Definitely DON'T SCRATCH! You'll end up damaging your skin and you may scar once the sunburn subsides.
Unfortunately there's not much you can do for the itch. Try not to put on thick petroleum based creams because they will clog your pores and make the itching worse.

Aloe vera. If you've got a plant, cut some off. If not, buy it bottled. Don't scratch..

Yes, scratching will further injure your skin. I suggest bathing in whole canned milk, like Carnation. It has helped me before.

How can you stand to itch it? Whenever I do it hurts like crazy, but it does itch. My recomendation is anti-itch Aloe Vera. And along that get some Bactine soothing spray. Those help a ton.
