Anyone have any ideas/tricks on replacing quarter panels? I have a 68 Camaro and 68 Chevelle to replace both rear quarter panels on. The outer wheel houses will also be replaced.

Thanx Tony O. Great answer. I did some research and really like the flanging and fusor idea. Seems like tha route would be harder to screw up.

if you weld it up, dont let it get hot, it WILL warp.Move around if you weld, dont weld any more than 1/4 of an inch at max. Really uou should look into glue. I use the fusor stuff and its great, no heat, get the slow set so you have some time to work with it. If your not convinced on just glue, you can drill holes in both panels and rivet them too. If your going to overlap the panels, look into a flanging tool, great becouse you dont use as nearly as much puddy.

you can get whole quarters or pieces of the quarters if you are removing rust. Try Rick's First generation,.Year one, or the Camaro barn , You can get all the parts you need . Let a professional body man do the job. It will cost more money but you will be glad you did. I have a 1968 RS/SS myself. In fact I am replacing some skin on mine too.

Try YearOne for replacement quarters. There are no "short-cuts"; you'll need to be proficient at welding and painting, naturally. It's a job and a half (been there done that on my '76 Camaro!)
