It is like the song says "It isn't about getting what you want it's about wanting what you get". It is all about attitude.

Hi...I often ponder this exact question..but at times..I have to admit I get caught up in the hype of technology...I get the wants also...but then I have to ask myself..do I really need this....and usually the answer is no...living a simple life seems better at times.

I think people get caught up in the media and the hype of the new gadgets out there..like it is going to make their lives easier..in ways in can cause more pain...between...money (loosing it..when buying more)..etc..as well as the environment and the values seem to be getting lost in the shuffle.

I think it is all based on values..family values and personal values seem to be getting tossed off to the side..which is very sad....

If people could treat each day like it was their last...would this help...people should be thankful for what they have!

wonderful question to ponder.....and to keep in mind as we all start a new day!

People like that are the ones who want power & status. They think that their possessions show how good they are - the more possessions they have to brag about the better they think they appear to others. Half the time those possessions are never used.
It's sad because they're also very shallow people & have trouble making true friends. They only have hangers on who disappear as quickly as they come.

That is the problem with most people. They sit around wishing for something better instead of going out and getting it. As long as you have procrastinators, you will have complainers.

I guess most of us feel inadequate when comparing with others, we usually do not realize we have many until we lose them. Happiness in not granted, good health is not granted. Go to see the poor and the sick then you realize you are pretty lucky. I have heard a saying: “ I always wanted to have a pair of beautiful shoes, until I saw someone without legs.”

I don't know, I am with you on that one. I feel blessed every day, but sometimes get down on what is going on. Maybe people get so wrapped up in what is going on that they forget what is important? Either way, the glass is always going to be half empty for people that don't know what is truly important in life.

That is a good Q i have noticed that too. In this society they want more and more or they want what everyone else has. Also the bigger the better too.
