War is big business and has been throughout history. Recently war production is so expensive the governments allow manufacturers to have an open account, allowing them to increase their bill if the costs overrun, thus guaranteeing profits. In the present Bush regime, companies like Halliburton receive no bid contracts giving them an open expense account to work for you and me. Imagine if you could do a job for someone and then charge them whatever you want. Weapons are sold to anyone and everyone who has the money, and as there have been over 15,000 wars since Jesus, you can imagine there never is a slack season for weapons.

The only manufacturers who MAY make money during the war are the ones that supply the military...and that's it.

War eats up huge amounts of equipment and services. Those who provide the equipment and services expect to be paid for their trouble. World War II had a lot more to do with the ending the great depression than the New Deal did.

I can't say I know how, I can only say they must, there are an awful lot of civilian worker deaths in Iraq and since everything is measured in profits, their deaths overall, must be profitable. That doesn't even mention the business being done stateside.
