if its a trip ometer to measure miles.. why does it move faster than the one about it (the real mileager)

it sounds like a trip odometer; it may have a decimal point included to measure partial miles. check your owner's manual...

It's a trip odometer. Before you go on a trip, hit that button, which will reset the counter to "0". At the end it'll tell you how far you've traveled on that trip. (I leave mine alone, so I'll always remember when the car is due for its 3,000 mile oil change).

Do you mean the trip odometer? You can set it at zero to track the miles you've driven for a specific trip or time period.

It's to let you know how many miles you have went from 1 point to another.
