my sister is a doctor and had an exact case like this. It was disgusting. It was up there for 2 weeks. How it came to that, no clue. But anyways, this woman had to go to the ER because it became infected, it got removed and her cervix got sterilized. I guess if you leave it in there forever she would die, but seeking medical attention right away is your best bet. It is treatable, better right away.

There is a such thing called "Toxic Shock Syndrome" that is caused by extra absorbent tampons. Not changing it every couple of hours or so can be harmful as well but I don't know if the dying part is true. I mean of course , I don't know her but could it be just drama on her part?
She should go to the hospital right now if she is feeling ill , instead of telling people that she is dying.
Hope everything works out with her and she is OK.

If your gf thinks she is suffering from TSS (toxic shock syndrome) then she needs to seek medical advice ASAP. It is a rare problem among tampon users, but needless to say... I've left a tampon in over night and never had a problem. I don't make a habit of it as it is not good for your health or hygiene.

She could have TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) from leaving her tampon in too long, but if she already knows about it then she should be just fine. Doctors are able to prevent if you catch it early enough, which obviously she did. My guess is that she is just trying to get your attention. And I'm thinking that it's a pretty good guess.

On the back of tampon boxes it tells you not to leave your tampon in for longer than 8 hours as it poses a risk for TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). It doesn't matter if you leave it in at night, just that you don't leave it in for a long period of time.

You can get sick from leaving a tampon in too long.
It is called toxic shock syndrome
She should go to the hospital if she is really having signs because it is life threatening.

No, she has poor hygiene or bad memory so maybe sick from that, the tampon never killed anybody.

The poor girl could die from Toxic Shock Syndrome. It might happen to her especially if her immune system is down.

There is Toxic Shock Syndrome. It is caused by bacteria growing down there and spreading their toxins to the body. It was origninally found in people using tampons.
