I actually looked into hypnotherapy. It costs $300 so waiting for tax refund and I am preparing myself for quiting. Cost is minuscule if you compare it to buying smokes and using nicotine items to quit. They say it has a 70% success rate on first try. All subsequent visits are included no matter how long or how many. She said it takes work and I have to see my self as a non-smoker. First you have to define what a non-smoker is.

Some suggestions are to try to change your habits. You have to replace smoking with something else like chewing gum or chewing on a straw. Take showers and brush your teeth a lot when trying to quit.

I tell ya the 'pursed lip' technique really works. When I am frustrated and can't smoke I purse my lips (make them round and stick out to form shape of small circle) and breathe in really deep. It makes a funny sound. Then exhale while relaxing. It mimics smoking a ciggy. Give it a try! I plan to use this a lot in the near future.

It is hard to quit but I keep thinking to myself, "what are the benefits?" There are no real benefits! We have to quit sometime so sooner then later is better. It gets me mad to think that nicotine is sooo addictive and increased by makers of cigs to keep you smoking. If the nicotine was not in the cigerette I would not smoke. These type of tabacco plants can be grown and cigs with no nicotine can be made but that is by no way profitable b/c we would all stop smoking in a short amount of time (and yes we would all be very miserable for a short period of time).

Food for thought: My father died when I was 8 from a massive heart attack. He smoked 3 packs a day and was a good man. My stepfather quit after a LIFETIME of smoking and died 2 years ago of congestive heart failure. This is how most smokers die if cancer does not get to you first. The lungs and heart begin to fail.

What good can come from smoking?

Yeah smoking is is really is easy to quit if you approach it from a breaking a habit perspective rather than getting past a nicotine addiction perspective. The nicotine addiction is so over -rated that it should almost be be a criminal act to pass off such utter nonsense as truth. It's not a big deal at all ,at best it's simply a minor annoyance. We've all had colds that made us feel worse. Nicotine " withdrawal (?) " does NOT have the curling into a fetal position and retching that one associates with alcohol or opiate withdrawal .Those who claim that nicotine is as addictive as heroin should put their degrees back in the Cracker Jack boxes that they came out of. How to stop Realize that you will feel crummy for a couple of days Realize that you will gain weight: Because smokers have oral fixations and with the cigarettes gone something will have to take it's place Food will taster better. Understand where the traps are to found in the process . The traps are found in places where you naturally smoke : In bars [although that's becoming more difficult] Driving solo long distances With the morning coffee-that's the one I really miss With friends that smoke The solution to the problem is to either not be in those situations for a couple of weeks [specially the social ones]or to substitute food for tobacco Cold Turkey is the only way to go. Have fun .You WILL be fine

Hey,

its great to hear from you that you want to quit smoking. At least now to have come to know the ill effects of smoking and how it affects you and people around you.

Now for the effective tips, smoking involves breathing air in and out, same way whenever you feel like having a smoke - just keep something similar to the cigarette in your mouth, something solid, and you keep on doing the breathing in and breathing out as you do with the cigarette - so here you are actually breathing and not smoking.

Other alternatives could be chewing a gum whenever you feel like having a smoke or eat something which is your favourite like burger or so...

If you want.. you can get a free burger at http://www.g13.us/burgerking.html...

well,I understand that you want to quit the natural way but that might be hard.you should stop slowly,so let's say you smoke over 10 ciagrettes a day,you should go to 10 a day, then 5 a day and then slowly to 2-3 a day, then stop.if you quit right then or really fast there is a good chance that you will get some kind of diease.
Good Luck!

If you stop suddenly, then your body will react very badly to the sudden change, your body is addicted to nicotine and craves it which is what cause you to smoke more and more. My opinion is to carry a limited amount with so you wont have as many to smoke. So let's say you smoke a pack a day, rather than carrying a whole pack with you just carry half with you, then a couple days later, cut that amount in half, a couple days later, cut that amount in half. Just cut the amount you carry in half every couples of days until you get to the last, just smoking one a day, after a couple of days doing that, stop altogether. Make sure all your packs of cigs. are gone after that one cig. This should work well.

It's all about self-control - (SC)
Just try to smoke less and less cigarettes day after day until you quit it completely. Coz you cant go from 100 to 0 directly. Give it some time besides your SC.
Good luck!

if you drink, stop drinking until you are done with cigarettes. wear a rubber band around your wrist and every time you think about a cigarette or smoking snap yourself with it. dont hang out with your smoking friends. clean out your car or truck if you smoke in it. light candles in your house if you smoke inside. throw away all your ashtrays. tell as many people as possible that you are quitting and ask them for support. finish the pack youre on and dont throw any cigarettes away (its depressing). wash anything that would smell like cigs. or fall in love with a a non smoker and let them ***** at you for a year or so and you will be over it. either way, good luck!

Try first eliminating your smoking habits, like when and for what reasons you light up. Once you can eliminate those you'll have an easier time quitting all together.
