I am 27 years old and I have had migraines since I was 18. I am getting them stronger now. I take zomig for them and they calm down but I get six pills and they are usaually gone before the end of the month. I wanted to know if anyone has been taking a daily pill or something to PREVENT the migraine. Also, I want to know some advice because we are trying to have a baby so I am scared, is there anything that I can take to prevent a migraine during the pregnancy like herbal or no? And my last question is one that scares me. I have heard that people who suffer from migraines are most likely to get a stroke a heart attack early, is this true? Please help.

My husband is on preventative medicine for migraines and it works well for him. NO you don't get strokes or heart attacks earlier if you suffer migraines. As for getting pregnant while on preventative medicine you doc can help with that. If you are on birth control pills that could even be the cause of your headaches. Good luck.

Me too! I have never ended up in hospital (thankfully!) but I used to get migraines that would last about 3/4 days, have a day with no pain then get them again. My Dr gave me Pizotifen whick I took for about 3 months then stopped because I gained some weight. They definitely helped and I have had much fewer migraines since. Now I get 2 or 3 a year. Stick with it, then try a trial period where you don't take them after a few months and see what happens. Make sure you keep your Dr informed at all times though, that is important. Feel better soon xx

About your pregnancy question ... Most women with migraines discover that their headaches go away while they are pregnant. I had a doctor tell me that it was partially due to the shift in hormones.

If you do get a migraine while you're pregnant, the doctor will tell you to stick with Tylenol. You aren't really supposed to take anything stronger (like Excedrin Migraine). My doctor told me to take the Tylenol and a swig of Mountain Dew.

I got some really bad headaches during my first trimester, but the best remedy was probably just coming home from work, going to bed, and turning off all of the lights. I would then just sleep it off for a few hours. The headaches would also trigger some morning sickness, so I also couldn't keep any food down.

i had migraines for awhile and i always took ibuprofen to get rid of them. it always works. it could also help if you clear your my more often and relaxed your body. a hot shower could help ease the pain as well. if it is really serious you might want to see a professional.

If you want to prevent further migraine, you should go for a one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax - it's simply amazing, but not available anywhere in the world yet.

The costs are approx. USD 200 - good luck!
