u mentioned green day there not rock there like pop
they used to be punk back in the 90s but now there pop

I,m sure I'll get allot of flack for this but I,m gonna say Jethro Tull thinking that you are talking about classic rock. How many bands are there that introduced a new sound (and instrument) and are still successful for decades now. All rock bands have guitars and drummers..but Flutes and mandolins!These guys are talented and original.My vote is for Tull!

Hardcore/Metal= Cradle of Filth
Rock=AC/DC
Scream-o= Mozart Season..... this band is not known well and has broken up but their music still floats around the internet check'em out

OK, here's one for you. It goes back a ways, but you didn't specify whether they had to be current. And AC/DC is pretty much dead in the water, so I figure mine, though long defunct, qualifies. THE CLASH!!! Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simenon, and the best drummer to ever hold a pair of sticks, Nicky "Topper" Headon.
