Anatole France said: "The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread."
St. Ambrose said: "You are not making a gift of what is yours to the poor man, but you are giving him back what is his. You have been appropriating things that are meant to be for the common use of everyone. The earth belongs to everyone, not to the rich."
Because the wealthy have so much power, they can rewrite the laws so that their version of stealing is legalized and they can indoctrinate people through their ownership of media that it's not really wrong.

No, it isn't right to steal. If you have $5 more than the person sitting next to you on the bus is it okay for them to steal from you? Because you had more than they did?
What I'm getting at is that if you want to claim it is okay to steal from "the rich" for no other reason than that they are "rich" it instantly raises the issue of where you draw the line between "rich" and "not rich" or even just "richer than you"
It becomes a lot more complicated than the original question when you consider it in everyday terms and not just the extremes (i.e. Bill Gates vs. starving child)

Nope, it's not right to steal.
There is a difference between outright stealing and music piracy.
If I walk into your house and take $1000, then you are $1000 poorer. However if I download $1000 worth of your music you are only $1000 poorer if I WOULD HAVE purchased that music on my own had I not downloaded it (and more realistically I'd probably have to download $5000 of music for a $1000 "loss" to a musician because of the RIAA and the middle men).
As Bill Gates has said, he doesn't like piracy, however if people are going to pirate anyway, he wants them to pirate his software. Massive customers (like China) who get hooked on windows illegally will use it legally sooner or later.
Similarly artists will sell concert tickets and other items to individuals who have become fans of their music through piracy.
The other thing is that you are very rich compared to hundreds of millions of people in the world. If it's right for one of us to steal from a billionaire, it's fine if a poor Nigerian steals from you.

If someone is living in a huge mansion, they probably have as huge mortgage and most of the accoutrement's are also on some kind of hire/purchase scheme as well.
If there were no copyright protection the singer would probably not have a billion in the bank.
Yes you answered your question to your own criteria.
I don't envy the rich.

I know you could go to jail for it but if you think about it, poor people actually should.Rich people not celebrities don't lke to share. They have everything they want and need and if not they could go buy it. Poor people on the other hand have nothing except a dirty and hard nasty sidewalk.
