Then who thinks they started Heavy Metal or influenced heavy metal bands (the drumming style, for instance)?

No, led zeppelin is not a heavy metal band, for sure they are the hard rock band. But their musical is really effecting the heavy metal music, so then for me they are one of the father of heavy metal music.
Led zeppelin music is really influencing the metal music, their sound guitar from Jimmy page or the drum from John bonham, that's really are new that time and it's realy so effect the heavy metal music.

led zeppelin is classic rock, and it would say it's heavy rock. definatley not heavy metal. they didn't consider themselves as heavy rock though. and if you listen to their music they have a lot of bohemian sounds along with country, they use banjos, they played a lot of blues too. They have a lot of slower songs too. So I would have to say they are a little bit of everything. And no doubt they are one of the best rock bands out there!

ok im a big fan of zep
there first record was really bluesy
there second one was mostly rock hard rock
and there later stuff after that was mostly hard rock
so in all i think there mainly hard rock
