why does my ipod mini just show an apple?

i was charging my ipod and after i disconnected it, it just would show and apple in the middle of the screen and wont let me press anything else when i connect it back to the computer it doesnt even show up that i got a devise connected

Usually, when u unplug it without hitting the 'Eject Ipod Button', it freezes up. Restart ur computer and try the process again. If that doesn't work, all ipods have a warranty, if it isn't to late take it bac to the place u purchased it and they should let u trade it n for an equal price, if not they probably would make u pay a cheaper fee.
