You can go to the gas station, put your card in the card reader at the pump and pay for your gas without ever needing to speak to someone.

Home Depot is a great example: you bring your items to the front of the store you can either use a cashier and check out all with the use of barcodes or use the self checkout
..the self checkout scans the item, checks the weight of what you scanned against known values as you place it in the bag so you can not scan a cheaper item and place the more expensive one in the bag.,....takes either credit card or cash....with cash, you even get change.........
