My 7-month-old son got his bottom central incisors just before he was 5 months old. I am waiting for his top central incisors, but I have just discovered that his top, right lateral incisor has appeared first. No top central incisors yet. Should I be concerned?

True, all babies are different. And while there may be an "average" (more than half of the babies get certain teeth first), it doesn't make them healthier, smarter, better equipped, or anything like that. It really doesn't make any difference what order they come in. I've known a couple of different babies whose teeth came in like your baby's, and while it was a little funny (but cute in my opinion), they all came in eventually and looked just fine when they were all in. So don't worry, your baby's teeth will be just fine!

Yes, it's normal. You shouldn't be concerned. My daughter got her's about 2 months before she got the central incisors. I asked her doctor about it and she said that if they still weren't in by 1 year, then they'd send her to the dentist. But that it wasn't a big deal, not every kid follows the "guidelines."

Everything's normal for babies, they are all so different it isn't even funny. My older boy did not get one tooth until he was 10 months old, then he got all 20 within 3 months. My younger son got a tooth a week starting at 5wks. They were completely at random and didn't follow any pattern in any book. He got his canines last, even after his molars. Babies are, in a word, weird.

I wouldn't be. Every child is concerned. My daughter got her right but not her left. Most children's teeth come in sets of twos but hers didn't. I figured it would be okay. Since you can't control what they do. She goes to the dentist at 12 months anyway. I figured if thats a problem he will tell me then.
