I really want to know whats my chances of getting into this college. I have a 4.0. I am in 10 grade. I know programming(c++).
I am like the top 1 rank. i scored a 1300 in the PSAT (which is average for me). I am a bright and fast learner. I am learning the basic of C++ and I pick it up like I was meant to it. I have a postive attitude. I am a Sikh(which I think shouldn't be a problem). Thanks. Please give me advice and comments.

Since you are just in 10th grade, you have two years left to go. Stony Brook is good for Computer science, and that is why I am transferring there in Fall 2007. Admissions doesn't depend on your religion. I am a Hindu(an Indian). As for your chances of admission, you seem to be very bright, so you will definitely get the seat. Stony Brook is not a very selective university.

You said you know C++, thats very good. Its not required but definitely its a plus. If you are free then learn the language(c++) to complete depth. Also learn about web development (learn HTML, DHTML, XML, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL, AJAX-- they are relatively very easy and you can learn them to some depth at w3schools.com (see the menu on the left)) Then understand computer architecture and try to learn Assembly language. This is a lot and will put you much ahead of others. In fact, if you can master them you will get a job itself. I know that you are just in 10th grade, but still I told you this because they are easy and doesn't take much time to learn. Use your spring and summer brakes to learn. If you want to know information on books or any other thing, mail me.
Best of luck.
