In Hideo Nomo's best season, he won 16 games with 234 K's and 3.19 ERA. Chan Ho Park won 18 games with 217 K's and 3.17 ERA. Do you guys think Dice-K will top these numbers in any of his 6 seasons with the Red sox?

Time will tell but certainly the red Sox believe that or they wouldnt have shelled out that kind of money (and they werent the only believers...other teams posted for him and you know the numbers were pretty big from the other teams). He pitched exceptionally well in the WBC so that says something for his stuff, the question will be more of how he deals with the pressure. He has not only Red Sox fans to deal with, he will be followed very heavily back in Japan as well so there will be a lot of pressure. All the scouts agree that his stuff is good enough to be a top of the rotation pitcher so it is highly likely he will surpass Nomo and parks best seasons.

Maybe his 1st season, but not any more. Look at Chan Ho Park now. He sucks. Hideo Nomo? sucked after his first year.

Both of them are has-beens. Dice-K was much better in Japan than both of them combined, so yes, I think he will top those by his second year.

To all who oppose this (Yankee fans): The entire Redsox organization is not stupid. Whether you like it or not, they have hundreds of experts analyzing his every pitch. He is gonna be nasty, and there is nothing you can do about it.

I do think, however, he is over hyped. To all of you expecting 20 wins and a 2.50 era, that just isn't gonna happen. At least not this year.

dice-k will never top the K's, b/c the yankees are in the division who have the arguebly best hitting team... dice-k will probably top the wins and era... he has a good mentor in schilling who will teach him how to win

In six seasons he may develop into that type of pitcher. This year, no way.
