I love my high heel heels. But how high are yours? The biggest i have are 4" stilettos.

Anyways, the way i got used to them in the begining was that i would wear them around the house while doing housework. It helps to break them in and helps you learn to keep your balance, because you don't want to look like your ankles are made of rubber by the end of the night.

Also, they are really great for reaching the top shelf when you empty the dishwasher! But be careful, heels may do a little damage to linoleum flooring if you press with your heels too hard, but it's not too bad because then you learn how to walk "lighter" instead of like a baby elephant..

Marnie darling...practice practice practice. And I did! I would take my heels and walk back and forth across the room, then sit and rest! Or lean against a wall. Pose. Walk again. And if they are really high! Like 3 inches. I put in a gel cushion underneath to absorb the shock of walking. Good luck!

Walk around on non slippery surface like rug etc, to get used to the balance and try not to start off on a heel that's too high

wore the shoes around the house before I had to wear them to an event. i try to avoid heels if possible because of the problems they cause in your feet, however.

what i did was a few days before i have to wear them out, i just put them on when i was in my house, cleaning,walking-around,watching tv, just for my feet to get used to them and to teach myself how to walk , without being embarassed when i trip in front of everyone!
