why does dial-up suck so bad!?

i start at like 15kbps then it jumps down to like 3kbps and slowly goes to like 1kbps. eventually it gets to 400bytes sometimes

because dialup can get u by if that is all u can get but bad or old
telephone lines inside and on the poles can really be a problem
if u are on dialup put your pc as close to the interface box (thats on the outside) get the shortist wire to the phone jack and intel modems seem to have better speed.But this doesnt work if your telephone co has old lines

dial up suck because it was one of the first internet source that we used... it suck beause now we have so many other internet thats faster and better then dial-up

Because it was designed to carry voice and does not do well with digital data.
