A chemical change is one in which chemical bonds (within a moelcule) are broken or formed. When water evaporates, it's still water, no new substance is created or destroyed. Therefore it's a physical change. Physical changes are: Freezing, melting, condensing, breaking (for a solid), etc

Is Evaporation A Physical Change

Evaporation is a physical change because when water evaporates no new substances are being made or nothing is being taken away from it, so in that case its still water. It wouldnt be a chemical because in chemical changes, substances can be made and destoyed, like elements, some are made in labs, and some were discovered so substances and gases that change are chemicl changes. 12 yr old girl here, take it from a straight A student.

It is a physical change because it is going from the liquid phase to the gas phase. It is not a chemical change because it is still made of two hydrogen atoms and an oxygen atom. Nothing in the chemical make up has changed.

Chemical changes are when the combination of atoms is changed. combining 2 molecules of hydrogen and one molecule of Oxygen to form 2 molecules of water is a chemical reaction. Water vapor and liquid water both have the same chemical make up. two hydrogen atoms and one Oxygen atom.
Phase changes are when a substance transitions from one physical phase to another. Solid to liquid or liquid to gas are two of these phase shifts.

because its chemical composition doesn't change. it's still h20, it just undergoes a change in appearance, or physical states
