I agree with the previous answer.

I actually have a few tattoos I've gotten during my world travels- much more fun than getting a t-shirt. (Australia, Japan, and Ireland) I've been to Jamaica, and that was one country where I refused to get any ink.

In general the sanitary conditions are not up to our expectations, and there are just too many risks involved with tattoos. Not only AIDS, but Hep, and potential scarring from inexperienced "artists". Jamaica has wonderful people and many beautiful places, but it is a third world country and is lacking in some of our health and disease control standards.

Depends on where you are staying. Kingston and Montego Bay have a number of established par ours. Health standards in Jamaica are up to scratch, however please ensure that you see the needle being opened and the tattoo artist uses gloves. Call ahead and ask your hotel or friends about it.

I wouldn't recommend getting a tattoo in Jamaica. And definitely do not go to Kingston (like the above answer says). Kingston is why the crime rate is so high there. Tourists do not go there, only locals.

Get one at home... that way you know it will be of good quality.

There are a lot of health risks invoved in getting a tatoo including getting HIV. You might want to spend the extra cash and getting it done in a safe place closer to home.
