How do I deal with a younger co-worker has been hateful to me.?

I have been on the job 3 months she is 19 and I am 55 she tries to make me look stupid and talks down to me. She is very hateful to me and I have noticed it is only me. I do not want to lose my job and others in the dept are clicky. Not sure how to apporach this without a big hassle after words. Any ideas? I have lived and owned my own business. Now have to work at Wal-mart in a dept of am unfamilar with. But learning! They hired me knowing I knew nothing about the dept. She has been there awhile! I am very capable of working on my own with out her over seeing me.

If possible, try to talk with her about it. But either way, there isn't a lot to be gained by you reacting to her. Who knows what her problem is? It is her problem not yours. So if possible just try to be pleasant and ignore her rudeness.

I would tell her exactly what you said in your question:

You are very hateful to me and I have noticed it is only me. I have owned my own business and have worked twice as long as you have lived.. Altough I am in a dept I am unfamilar with, I am quickly learning. They hired me knowing I knew nothing about the dept. You have been here a short while compared to my vast experience at running a business, keep in mind I am more likely to become your boss than you are to become mine. I am very capable of working on my own without your over seeing me.
