An old fashioned girl is worth her weight in gold. Give me a woman who enjoys old fashioned values any day of the week. They are more trust worthy and faithful than a feminist who sees no problem with going through men like they do their fake fingernails.
Actual Old fashioned girls are a rarity in the grand scheme of things. I have seen some who swear up and down they are old fashioned Country Girls - but for the most part, they pan out as "only in their own minds" not in reality.

Yes,we have had more than 30 years since the movement began and many good things have come out of it however we found out that some things didn't turn out the way we thought they would.I remember when women were offended if a man opened a door for them, the result was that men began to act in a less than polite way, this is just one example. We have found that equality and feminism are not the same thing and certainly not what they were cracked up to be.

I grew up during the "womens' lib" movement of the 60's. Women are just now realizing how they have "done themselves in" with trying to compete with men. The whole role thing is off balance. It is no wonder that divorce is on the rise. I feel sorry for men. Yes, I think most women enjoy being "old fashioned" as you put it. My mother had it made in the shade....she actually got to "raise" her own children, watch them take their first step, hear their first words, see them off on their first day of school, etc. etc. etc., Working mothers of today are missing out on the old fashioned values of motherhood.

Most New York women certainly are NOT - women here are very independent, liberated and far from conservative! Most women I know have jobs, career ambitions and very modern views on sex, relationships and men! Actually, although they might not use the word, they're basically feminist!

Was the goal of feminism to make all women the same, but different than before? Or was it to let women be as they choose? May they choose not to change?

This would vary according to factors such as age and education. Also, "old-fashioned' and 'conservative' are open to interpretation. You can't hope to successfully measure something if you haven't defined the perameters.

No, I don't. MOST American women are more progressive and career-minded. There are still the Phyllis Schlaflys and Ann Coulters out there, but they are a minority.

Yes. Feminism has a long way to go. We won't stop until all women enjoy the free sexuality (and free money) of Paris Hilton.

"Old fashioned" is simply a term for 'insecure' and 'repressed' not to mention a pointless yet overriding fear of independence. So yes, some women are still very "old fashioned". (unfortunately)

I'd be considered old-fashioned. I wear skirts 99% of the time, I'm a housewife and mother.
Newer ain't always better!
