Have you ever stopped to think that these people that are avoiding you have a moral issue with your sexuality?

Look personally I know how you feel, when i came out that i was questioning my sexuality many of my "close" friends started to immediately leave our group of friends. Girls will especially avoid you thinking that you might have a crush on them and than they say if you were a guy would you like me. Guys start avoiding you because now your competion in a sense because you like girls and if a girl is treated better by another girl it makes a guy look bad. Honestly people are pig headed because they are raised to believe tht if someone is different they must stay away. I accept people no matter race, religion, apperance, or sexuality. The friends you had were not real friends but people who just wanted to look good.
So i am not homophobic.

The first guy has a point. Also, some people may think that you coming out means that you are going to act differently and they don't know how to approach you. Also - with everyone being so politically correct maybe they are afraid they will say something wrong and offend you. I wish it wasn't that way, but it'd certainly be a reason to avoid.
I think the best approach is for to continue just being you and the friends that stick with you and the new ones you make will be great ones.

This will always be an uncomfortable subject matter. It's not easy..just ask my ex-husband who left me for another man. People will always be judgmental, there is no getting around that. For those who just don't say anything....they don't understand. Until science can prove that you didn't make the choice to be gay, then you will have to accept that girls especially cannot relate to who you really are.

Unfortunately that is why many people don't come out of the closet. I've lost more friends by revealing who I really am inside, and what interests me. It's a damn shame!

No. Not that they are afraid you like them. They are afraid that others think that they are one of you too.
We used to have a group of regular hang-out friends. Until one of them told us he is gay, the group gathering size get smaller. My wife advised me to continue the friendship and ignore what others think. So I still have regular hang-out with this friend, together with some other who accepted him too.
