Have you considered hermit crabs, an iguana, snails (no,really), a box turtle, tarantulas, or geckos?

Hermit crabs are easy to take care of. All you need is a small aquarium, some rocks and a little sand, and a low water dish. They don't bite (but they may pinch), they can't run away from you, and they are most certainly non-allergic, unless someone allergic to shellfish bites into them. But you're not supposed to eat your pets ! Hermit crabs are less than a U.S. dollar per crab, too, by the way...depending on where you live, that is.

An iguana is a bit more exspensive, as they require quite a bit of space ,but they do good running free range. You can also buy a harness and leash and take them for walks. They eat most any fruit or veggie, and especially love crickets. They are kid and adult friendly .

Snails are easy to care for, and they take up barely any space at all.

Box turtles are also easy, but they need room as much as an iguana does, movement wise, but are also easy to feed. The can run free-reign and won't poop everywhere either.

Tarantulas may be large, hairy and scary-looking but they make great pets as they are friendly and easy to feed. I used to own 4 myself (I had them in a box hid in my room and my mom found out and freaked).

And Geckos...all you need is a glass aquarium, sand or rock bottom, a place for them to hide, and a water dish.A heat lamp is preferred, along with a sunning rock. But they love crickets and other small insects so they're easy to feed and very fun.

For starters, monkeys are NOT good pets. They demand constant attention and can be very unpredictable. Also, they are upwards of $1000 for the cheapest one, I believe...(I stumbled upon a website offering monkeys once while looking for reptiles, dont ask.)

I have a baby water dragon, he's a doll. I would suggest a water or bearded dragon as they are the most 'loving' of the reptiles. If handled daily they will enjoy it and they will become very tame. Water dragons get to a max of 3ft for males, most of it being all tail, and about 2 ft for females. Bearded dragons get to 2 feet and are the most common, however they will be more expensive by about $30. Both need to be fed crickets, mealworms, waxworms, and other insects. Both can eat fruit and veggies, water dragons usually dont want to eat veggies.

There are a lot of choices. Go to ReptileDepot.com and look around, they have a ton of choices.

I would also suggest a female russian tortoise. My Emi is a dear, she loves people and loves to be pet on her head. She doesn't eat much compared to other reptiles and eats only veggies, hay, and grasses. Russian torts are the least expensive of all the tortoises, get only 6-8inches in size, and are very good pets. They live for a very long time, and will most likely outlive you if cared for right.

The only warning: Never buy an iguana. They're pretty, but mean(usually) and get super huge and require a super huge enclousure.

All above mentioned animals need UV lights... Just to make sure you know that lol

Try water turtle, since u had a tank it would be easy. Water turtle like red eared is very fun pet. They are more active and smarter than fish ( they knew when u come close to them, turn on the light, or enter the room, or feeding time). u could even take them out to play with in land or grass. u could tell people stay away from it ( like u have a dog) cause they bite strangers. ^^, have fun.

You can keep a pet tarantula in a 10 gallon aquarium. Decorate it with sand and rocks and little places to hide. They like live crickets for food, which you can get at a decent pet store. When nobody is around you can take the tarantula out and let him crawl on you. Don't drop him though, they are very delicate, but I heard they make good pets.

I've got Pacman Frogs. They are entertaining, get pretty big, don't make noise or roam around much and they are easy to keep.

How about a hedge hog. My grown son has one and they are pretty cool. If he can take care of one then they are not too difficult. Cost around 100.00.
