Depends on the loved on. My wife? Yes. One of my sisters? Yes. My children? Absolutely. My mom? Probably not. She is 30+ years older than me, only has adult children, and has lived a long life. So it wouldn't make sense to sacrifice myself for her. I love my mom, but you have to be rational about it. In any case where there was a gray area, say a friend of equal stature, I would err on the side of sacrifice. The fact is that someday you are going to die. I would like to be able to do that with a clear conscience.

Ah, but it is always easy to say something like this in theory. You really don't know what you would do until the situation presents itself.

Yes I would. I have thought this question over in my mind several times. I would give organs if I had to. I would go into a burning building, if I thought there was a chance to save them.

In all truth, such heroic acts are spectacular, but not necessary to answer this question. When your parent takes care of you everyday, that is a sacrifice of time, money and life. Whenever you give to another person, you are sacrificing yourself.

It is funny how the world works, you have to sacrifice or give in order to receive back a personal happiness.

Love IS sacrifice... in each recommendations.... can not imagine about a love that not at all sacrifice... If the love is genuine must be ready to sacrifice, if it would not favor it really is extra appropriate!

If given a couple of seconds thinking time yes. If its split second like an explosion might be different because of instinct, we will automatically shield ourselves from initial blast.

Who is 'them'? and what kind of sacrifice?(eloping maybe?)
anyway, going to the point, I would sacrifice myself if the love he has for me is deemed true. I wouldn't for a loved one who is just 'playing' with me.
Please note i would sacrifice myself for 'my loved one' by not loving again, but it doesn't mean to say I will go with him if he was not sincere to me. In other words, the sacrifice is plainly made out of respect for the love of me.

Do mean death? We all sacrifice a bit of our self for the sake of a loved one. We may not notice this or for that matter our loved ones too, but we all give ourself no matter what. With small things by giving in with their whims, by giving those infamous 'another chance', by understanding and listening, by being grounded and spiritual, and by getting the worse or best of us for their sake.

Yes I would, gladly for my children. Hopefully I would for my brothers or sisters. My parents and my husband have passed away, so I don't have to wonder if I would for them.

the short answer? in a heart beat!!!! how could i live with myself knowing that i had a chance to save someone i loved and i didn't do it? why should i be here and they should not? for example, i love my husband with all of my heart and soul and would give anything, including my life, to keep him alive.
