Are there any chatrooms online except for myspace and AOL? I have AIM...don't know if that helps.

Chatrooms have more or less become obsolete because of their insecure and dangerous nature. I would recomend that you stick with AIM, where only your friends can talk to you.

But if you still want chat rooms, then let me tell you a little story. It is a legend from the time of the Old Internet:
Back before the world wide web, when only geeks and nerds roamed the Internet, there was a special protocol in place called the Internet Relay Chat, or IRC. It enabled the denizens of the Old Internet to talk to each other in chat rooms. There were literally millions of them out there, all you had to do was pick one from the list. With the advent of the Web and the birth of the modern-day Internet, this noble system was forgotten by most in favor of new web-based chat systems and eventually IM.

But, m'dear, the IRC still exists! It is still used by many people, mainly hackers and pirates, and has more or less become the "dark alleyway" of the Internet, but its still there. All you need to access it is a program that can interface with the IRC servers.

Personally I recomend either X-Chat or mIRC, they are pretty good IRC programs. But I give you a fair warning: Like I said, the IRC has become a backalley full of hackers, pirates, and pedophiles. It is dangerous if you don't know what your doing. So be careful and be very strict about sharing private information.
