what i would say is
"Hey, don't worry, everything will be ok even if it doesn't seem the way it is. remember: you got friends like me and i will always be there for whatever the reason is."
well im not sure this will help though.

I think what you do for the person is more important than what you say. Make sure that the person knows you care about him or her and and ask if there is anything you can do to help. If you can think of something personal or special to do on your own to cheer him or up, even if it is something as simple as bringing their favorite treat - that would be even better! Whatever you do, good luck and pat yourself on the back. It is nice to see there are some caring and considerate people left!

Remember, there's always someone worse off than you are. I know someone who was abused as a child; I have a friend who's parents seperated when she was still young, and her father tried seperating her from her mother; I have a cousin who is colorblind; I have another cousin who is only 7 but has such low blood sugar that everyday we pray that she'll survive another day; there are people in Africa suffering from hunger, malnutrition, and poverty...all of it is true, too. If you don't know anyone who suffers from stuff like this, just make up stuff about how bad other people's lives are, so that the person realizes that they are actually pretty well off.

I would try to follow the intentions of this great and well known song:
Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
we all have sorrow
but if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow
Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long 'till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on.
I would help them in whatever way I thought was needed-- just to listen, be shoulder to cry on, someone they could call if they needed help in some way --perhaps through praying together as well.

It depends on the situation the person has. Just tell him/ her positive outlooks that are going to happen and God has a lot of plans for us. What happens now is just a part of his/ her trials that is normal to everyone...

I'm so sorry for your pain.
I feel for you
If I could take your pain from you I would.
If things feel real bad and you need a friend. Call me,
you can count on me
I'm here for you if you need a shoulder to cry on.

I'm terrible at trying to cheer people up I think, but I'll give them a big hug.

To never give up and to pull yourself up by your bootstraps. I tell them to pray and to believe that God has already answered your prayer. I would tell them to never give up hope and to keep their faith strong and they can endure anything if they will. I also let them know that I will be there for them, that I will pray for them and be a friend for them.
