I was young and panicked and did through water on it, oh my God what a mess, what started as a small grease fire blew up, caught the kitchen curtains on fire, smoke damage to the ceiling. Thank God I finally realized my mistake and corrected it without the fire dept. having to come. How embarrassing. What I ended up doing right was to throw flour on it.

yes.......you must stop, drop, and roll until it is out.
You may have to do that many times before the flames are extinguished.
