well im a true metal head and im starting to listen to the distellers. so some one out there tell me can the distillers be metal.

They are more in the punk vein. The singer used to date (or is still dating) Tim Armstrong, the singer of Rancid and formerly of Operation Ivy.

The Distillers are more of a punk band

I consider them more of a modern punk.
