My brother is a compulsive gambler. He recently married a young woman whose father is a compulsive gambler. The cycle is very difficult to beat. So far, my brother has not sought help for his problem.

If you need help, you can go to GA meetings. They are specifically for people who have gamblers in their lives. They were very helpful to me and my father, even though my brother wouldn't go.

My husband has been compulsively gambling for over 3 years, in 2006 he has ran up 100,000 in debt with no plans to stop. He won't talk about it even, denies it all and tells lies. 3 years ago we NEVER lied to each other. I have no answer to your question, I only want to post that I hope there are some good stories out there, because right now this seems hopeless.

well I know that this is not what you asked, but please divorce him.
Seriously.
You dont have to leave him if you love him but you need to protect yourself financially!
This could literally DESTROY your financial future.
I doubt that he will be able to stop his gambling just based on what I have seen and read. Why should YOU risk your home and financial stability because of it.
Again, stay with him if you must but make your assests (your house, your car, your taxes etc) something that his sickness cannot touch! You owe this to yourself and your kids. They day is coming where he will have to pay the piper and just like the drug addicts and the like, they dont stop until they hit rock bottom!
