A father shows examples and courage and strength, a mother a kind feminine heart that teaches nurturing and caring. I think most gays and lesbains were lacking a strong father figure in their life and too much nurturing.......what say you?

There are lots of strong gay and lesbians out there, but you wouldn't recognize us because we don't fit your narrow-minded stereotype of what a gay person should be.

Someones sexuality does not predetermine their cowardice. People in relationships usually have their different strengths and weaknesses, and that is part of the reason a relationship works. While some people could have been "over nurtured" (which is a very difficult thing to accomplish), the same is true with people who are "strait". I know plenty of strait men that are cowards, and plenty of gay men that I would feel comfortable walking down a dark alley with because of their sheer strength. Its a media portrayal and a stereotype that unfortunately gets too much "air time" and so is seen as the norm.

LOL!! Actually, after putting up with the horrors that heterosexuals have inflicted on us, homosexuals are far stronger than you could possibly imagine. In case you didn't know it, it was us gay people that started a riot in New York that took the police two days to put down - after which the neighborhood looked like a warzone - because we are NOT cowards and will not be walked on. That was Stone Wall in 1969, and we haven't stopped fighting since. You may be able to pick us off one by one, but together we're as bada$$ as the US Army (and we make up most of the army too)! Don't confuse peace lovers with cowards. So I think you need to redirect your coward remarks to all of the heterosexual guys out their who hide behind machoism and hard calloused hearts out of fear of being perceived as less than a man. That is the ULTIMATE in cowardess.

A mother can be strong, a father can be nurturing and you have bought into sex and gender role conditioning that is clouding your insight.

Are you a 'coward' for being born with the eye colour that you were born with?

That doesn't account for the gays and lesbians with strong fathers and nurturing mothers, or the straight people with no father, weak father, strong mother, etc. It also doesn't account for siblings who are not all straight or all gay.

I don't quite follow your logic. In the ideal family of the 50s, your description of a mother and father is true, but I don't see how a physical characteristic (sexuality) can be affected by the attitude of the parents.

Parents do have a very strong influence on their children, but they can't control their child's sexual orientation.

Alexander's the Great army was rife with gays. They conquered the known world as far as they knew it. So much for this loaded question. BTW, why no picture? Not implying anything; just throwing that out there.

first off, don't start judging everyone unless you know a lot about the subject, which you obviously don't. second, i had anormal childhood and i'm gay, i had a father and really not a lot of nurturing, mostly physical abuse, so that theory doesn't work.

What a sweeping generalization !
My father was a good man, a Christian Gentleman if you like.
My mother was feminine but strong and carried on after father died.My brother is an army man, married with children his partner is gorgeous and they all love me. What does that make them in your eyes ?
What say I to your pronouncement? "Stable sweepings!!!!!!!!!"
