This is the confirmation that embryonic stem cells (at least in mice) can regenerate into complete organ systems, in this case a tooth with full nerves and blood supply. Today teeth, tomorrow hearts and lungs.

Absolutely! This is the first step in a long road leading to human repairs. The problems will, of course be political, not scientific. Nonetheless, good news!

I remember the mouse with a human ear grown on its back at MIT about 7 years ago. Hopefully the larger market for teeth over human ears will benifit the field. I think similar technologies carried over to humans can become a powerful tool in making stem cell research mainstream. It will be interesting to see how this plays out though.
