granted I only know your side of the story. If you really don't do often then she's being wrong in overreacting and getting upset.
But you should also evaluate how often you've done this (if that's the case). i only say this because I've been on the other side of this. i have a friend who always does that. We invite her places she said she'll go or she'll do something with us, but then at the last minute "something will come up" or she just straight out make excuses (usually it's been for a guy; she won't say this, but we later find out) its really annoying and i wish we could just tell her how annoying it is that she's such a flake, but we've never said anything to her. sometimes I wish we would.

Your friend probably was just disapointed that you changed plans, becuase she was looking forward to the movies or whatever. You'll probably feel the same.
I don't know why you changed plans, but if it was for something important, then you should of told her Your sorry I had to change plans, but I have to do something very important that needs to be done, or taken cared of. And your friend should get an understanding of what you gotta do for you in your fam, or house or any of your personal life comes first.
But if you didn't blow off the event for no right reason then she had the right to feel that way. That was an event she probably couldn't wait to go to. So I think you guys should stay friends.just explain to her why you changed plans, and make another day to go to the movies. Well, bye my mom is calling me to get off the computer.Tootles amiga!!! :)

Give the friendship "time to heal." It's never wise to burn bridges. . She is probably feeling like you have rejected her.Show her kindness and consideration and let her know you are sorry that you canceled the movies with her and that someday you would like to make it up to her. In the future try to keep your promises. Never cancel something with one person to do something you think is more fun with another. That is not a good practice. Good Luck

Sounds to me, that she should not be friends with you. Your the problem, you dont make plans with somebody and then dont bother with them if you get a better offer.
