Somehow some advertisements have gotten onto my computer. I use Firefox, but someone who'd used IE got onto a page that downloaded some ads. I have checked the computer for spyware, bots, and viruses, and all my programs say the computer is clean, yet these things still keep coming up in IE windows. I want to completely disable IE so that this can't continue to happen. Here are the steps I've taken (but they're not enough because IE windows keep coming up).

1-Used Ad-Aware to deep clean my computer for ads and other spyware.
2. Used Spybot S&D to get rid of bots.
3.Went to control panel>add/remove programs>windows components>and from there I disabled Internet Explorer.
4.Used two different antivirus programs to sweep my computer for viruses.

Even after disabling IE, I STILL have these annoying pop-up windows advertising things in an IE browser. What's more is I can surf the net from those pages, in IE! So...what do I do to solve this problem? I use Windows XP if that helps.

a very good firewall such as zonealarm will fix this issue

do you have a flashing minesweeper icon in the system tray? if so it is a spyware exploit that cannot be picked up by virus scanners and spybot killers.

go to that link and read about the smitfraud, it is a devilishly tricky little blighter, that took me around 3 hours to remove from a friends pc (only cause his PC was a piece of junk :P), hope this helps, also do you use MSN messenger? i have found that on older versions of windows messenger there is a security hole that lets a ton of popups thru, there are many programs that can get rid of this, just google if you think this is the problem

Ok you want to get rid of internet explorer. Heres the problem. Those folders that you view files in are in a program called explorer which is part of....

You guessed it Internet Explorer!

The only way to delete IE is to delete windows and install a different operating system which will have some type of explorer which will in turn give you the same problem in which case yuo will have to switch to a different operating system which will have another explorer......

15 million words and 1000 asprin later...

which will give you the same problem and you will eventually have to switch back to windows.

Firstly IE can not be removed from Windows systems.
Secondly I suggest you download a free pop - up blocker or the Google Tool bar which comes with a free pop up blocker.
