Cincinnati, Ohio to Las Cruces, New Mexico. Which route?

Not sure if it's best to drive through Oklahoma City, or more south through Dallas. I heard travel via OK may be better but I don't like tornadoes. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Go south and get on I-10 and go west
