I was going to say what the person above me said.
You asked why does he sound like that live. Maybe it's because that's how he REALLY sounds like. Artists may sound different live. You're forgetting all the editing crap that happens during the production.
About the Sloppy words, he always sounds like that.

its a LIVE show and obviously live shows can't and won't sound EXACTLY like the real song/record(s)
