The Methodist are a spin off from the Church of England and are more of a Protestant branch of Christianity. Today they would be considered a liberal church, in theology and practice.
The Baptist church came from the Ana-Baptist that were the more radical in their beginnings. They were and still are very conservative in theology and practice. Baptist are often erroneously considered protestant, but they are far from it. The Baptist churches are autonomous. They do belong to an association, but do not take orders from a central government. The Methodist are under a central government.
