2/-3 is the same as - 2/3. Change it to -4/6 so there's a common denominator.

When you subtract a positive from a negative you actually add, so the answer (unreduced) is -1 9/6

But 9/6 is 1 3/6 or 1 1/2 so you'd get -2 1/2

In the other, make the -1 5/8 into an improper fraction (-13/8) and make the 13 into a fraction by putting a 1 under it. Then since you are dividing, flip the 13/1 to be 1/13.

-13/8 times 1/13; the 13s cancel, and negative times positive is negative, leaving -1/8

two divided by negative three is the same as negative two divided by three. thus you can add
-2/3 + -1 5/6
or
-4 + -(1x6+5).....-4+-11........-15
___________ =______ =______ = -2 3/6 = -2 1/2
............6...... .. ....6....... .. ......6

for the -1 5/8 divided by 13...

to divide by a number you can multiply by its inverse. so,

-1 5/8 x 1/13 and get your mixed numerals back together....

-(1x8 + 5).........-(8=5).......-13
________ = ________=______
.......8 ........ ...... ..8....... .. ..8

so,
-13/8 x 1/13 = -13/104 = -1/8

this can be arrived at easier if you cancel out the 13's and multiply

-1/8 x 1/1

hope i helped

you know how to convert a mix number to a improper fraction right???

multiply den by whole number and add num... put new numerator over denom

in the first one a neg + a neg means that you combine the neg numbers

in second make your improper fraction then multiply by 1/13 (mult tops and bottoms)
